There is a ground-floor audio-visual room for those not wanting to or able to use the stairs.

We have online advance purchase prices or tickets can also be bought from the ticket office on arrival (card payments only) at a slightly higher rate.

Purchase an annual pass and return for free as many times as you like for one year from the date of purchase.

Disabled visitors should get guidance and help from reception staff on arrival at the ticket office who will direct them, if appropriate, to park close to the castle.

A full tour of the castle includes three floors and it is not possible to avoid stairs. Your entry ticket allows admittance to the whole of the ground floor which is accessible by wheelchair from the disabled parking area and gives access to several display rooms, the gift shop, restaurant, lavatories (including disabled lavatory), and an audio-visual tour presentation (with subtitles) on the castle.

We do not permit wheelchairs on the upper floors.

The audiovisual facility provides a rolling 25-minute display showing many aspects of the castle. It is principally intended for disabled visitors who are given priority but are otherwise open to all.

Accompanying carers will not be charged entry to Blair Castle. In addition, we welcome guide dogs, caring dogs and other recognised assistance dogs.

There is no need to pre book if you are a Historic Houses member, please just come along and bring your pass to be scanned on arrival.

Castle tours are self-guided, with information in every room and guides on each floor to answer any questions you may have. Find us on theSMARTIFY APPand enjoy an audio tour during your visit to the Castle. You can also explore the app from home.

For the 2024 season room notes will be provided in a range of languages, and guide books in English can be purchased for £5.25 per copy, buy online or in the shop.

Travel to Blair Atholl by rail, the train station is within walking distance of the castle. Links to a couple of timetables can be found hereScotrailandThe Trainline.

Bus services are available from Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Local bus services from Pitlochry and The House of Bruar drop off in our carpark.

If you are visiting us by car then please find directions below, the castle is marked on the brown tourist signs along the A9 however more detailed directions are below. For satellite navigation systems please enter the postcodePH18 5TL.

Travelling from Perth heading north:

Travel north on the A9 past Pitlochry and take the next junction to the right signposted Blair Atholl, follow the road round and down to the T junction, take a right turn to Blair Atholl, travel through Bridge of Tilt (24-hour petrol garage here if needed) and over the bridge, you will then see the stone walls and iron gates of the castle ahead of you on your right.

Travelling from Aviemore/Inverness heading south:

Travelling south on the A9 take the junction to your left at the House of Bruar, continue on this road where the castle will come into view on your left after 3 miles, as you enter Blair Atholl the walls and iron gates will be on your left-hand side.

On arrival, you will pass through the castle gates, these are 3.3m (11ft) wide by 4.05m (13ft 4in) high and will accommodate most coaches and motor homes. If you have any concerns, please contact the administration office on 01796 481 207 for a route that will avoid this entrance.

Free parking for visitors is available 100 metres from the castle for 200 cars and up to 20 coaches at any given time.

There is an EV charging point within our visitor car park at Blair Castle, provided byPod Point. The pod is rated at 7kw and is easy to use via their Pod Point app.Simply downloadand register for an account prior to use and follow the steps for charging.

As part of our ongoing efforts to be sustainable at Blair Castle, the Pod Point is connected to the castle hydro scheme, which was reinstated in 2015. As a result, it is powered entirely by renewable energy.

You are welcome to take photographs within thecastleexcluding the Entrance Hallareausing smallcameras or mobile phones however these images arestrictly for private use only. Please contact us for permission to use for business use.

To keep our collections safe and with consideration to all our visitor’s uninterrupted enjoyment, we neverallow tripods, selfie sticks or flash photography.

Dogs (except guide dogs) are not permitted inside the castle but welcome on the grounds when kept on leads.

The use of drones and other flying machinery is not allowed over Blair Castle, the castle grounds or on the wider estate, unless in exceptional circ*mstances.

TheTullibardine Restaurant is now open and serving a delicious range of soups, sandwiches, pasties and pies, freshly baked cakes, tea, coffee and cold drinks.

We have high chairs and baby change facilities available.

We offer eco-friendly takeaway packaging so you can enjoy your lunch outdoors at our picnic tables or while playing on our adventure playground.

Please note that the restaurant is closed during the winter season.

The Cannon is located in the grounds of Blair Castle, just next to the carpark. Visitors can enjoy ‘grab and go’ drinks, ice cream, sweet treats and a spot of lunch.

The castle’sGift Shopstocks a wide range of gifts, books and souvenirs, many based on the Blair Castle collections. The shop is open during castle opening hours and accepts card and cash payments.

Brand new for 2024 is our hidden adventure playground in the woods. Our forest play area features a fantastic assault course for children to run, jump, balance, climb, and swing among the trees. It includes a wooden castle fort perfect for imaginative play and a sheltered picnic area with rustic log seating.
