It's Just Lunch is a matchmaking service. If you work their system, the dates improve over time. If you give meaningful feedback, your executive matchmaker starts to understand the things that would never work for you. Currently I'm working with Hazel. She's been pretty smart about picking people for me. I like this system better than an online site because they vet the clients. People don't show up 20 years older and 20 pounds heavier than their picture. I've been pretty happy with the experience. Hazel is professional and very nice.

Updated on 06/11/2024: Edit: I had originally given this company a 5-star rating after just one date in. My rating after being two months in is 1-stars (zero if that were possible). Another reviewer took the words out of my mouth: Worst experience, dropped quite a significant amount of money, they assured me they had lots of candidates in their database that match my criteria. The minute I signed up, they kept trying to match me with people outside my deal breakers. Please do not waste your hard earned money on this company.
Original Review: Very professional services. Jaiye and the IJL team undertook several interviews of me to better understand what kind of person I was looking for. On the first date they set me up with, they hit a home run on the first pitch. I was extremely pleased with the level of preparation they took to carefully select a match and expect nothing but more positive results going forward. Thanks, Jaiye!

I joined IJL after the disappointment of the regular dating sites (due to outdated profile pictures, fake profiles, or sub-caliber individuals, etc). Being a busy businessman, I got tired of spending the time and effort on the regular dating sites that always resulted in disappointment. With IJL you have a Match Maker who does the work for you; my Match Maker is Amber and she is in regular contact with me to coordinate dating opportunities. Being open minded, one must realize that not all dates may be conducive, but at least you are getting out and having a more promising opportunity than with the regular dating sites (that are full of questionable profiles).
Yes, IJL does cost more than regular dating sites, but from my experience the old saying "you get what you pay for" holds true, because you are getting a Match Maker to do the work for you and to provide a higher quality profile than those of the regular dating sites; a person who invests the money for IJL is of a higher social-economic status and is serious about dating.

I can't in good conscience give IJL five stars for the general service and that is mainly due to the high turnover rate of matchmakers, sparse communication, and inconsistent details regarding dates. This review and rating are specifically for the matchmaker Jaiye and the most recent date I had that was set up by him. Out of a half dozen or so IJL matchmakers that have contacted me, Jaiye was the first one who really paid attention to what I was looking for in a potential match. Jaiye’s response time was excellent compared to previous IJL matchmakers who would take days, sometimes weeks to respond (if at all).
When Jaiye contacted me to discuss the details of the date, he actually sounded genuinely excited about the potential match rather than coming off with script-like generic enthusiasm (as was the case with his predecessors). His confidence in the match was encouraging and helped put me at ease before the actual date. The date itself was amazing - by far the most enjoyable date I had via IJL. The details of the date are beyond the scope of this review, but I will say that this person and I are continuing to spend time together and are invested in getting to know each other.

I have been with IJL now for a year and have gone on roughly 5 dates. I have met some decent people, no one has stuck yet. The matches have been far and few in between and a little slower than I imagined; but I’m being patient they will find the BEST choices possible for me. This method of dating has forced me to look and think outside my usual box and although I haven’t been physically attracted to them, the matches have been for the most part in line with what are the most important characteristics and attributes and for me. Since being assigned to Tanya as my matchmaker, communication has greatly improved. I feel she listens to my concerns. My hope is Tanya is truly vested in finding suitable and true matches for me. I look forward to meeting more matches.

I must say, my experience with It's Just Lunch (IJL) took a complete 180-degree turn, all thanks to the amazing Trisha R. Initially, I was quite disheartened with the service and had reached a point where I was ready to give up on the whole idea. But then, along came Trisha, and she completely changed my perspective on the company and the entire matchmaking process. Trisha is an absolute gem! I would only give this 1 star because I could find better matches on Tinder. And these guys that they picked for me were men I wouldn't have picked in a million years. Not by just looks but personality, talking wise, things in common. I usually screen guys on apps like calling first seeing if there is a connection or seeing their picture and mine as well to see if we are attractive to one another. This matchmaking service is too expensive, and they don't listen to your needs.

“Matches” did not actually share interests. It seems IJL meets its contract requirements by checking the box rather than spending time on quality matches. Even that I could accept. The biggest issue is my “executive matchmaker” was not responsive. Literally sent an email on 5/13, left a voicemail 5/24, and did not get a return call until 6/13 AFTER leaving another voicemail requesting contact by a manager. All that and they did not even have the decency to have a manager call me they routed it right back to the non-responsive matchmaker. For $** I expect more professionalism.

If I could give Zero Stars I would. I gave them $3200 for the worst service ever. I haver repeatedly tried to get my money back and they hide behind their legal contract that gives them all the leverage. The dates provided are not even aware of my information and are not vetted. The men provided for a women in her 50s is terrible. When you go out on the date with these men, they are being asked to fill a quota. They provide one membership to you and the contract allows you to meet members who do not even pay and have no stake in the game. There has been two legal class act lawsuits and both times the plaintiff have won. If I would have known, I would not have signed up. Save your money and time!
